OUR HISTORY In the 1960's, we started working in agriculture. Some of our disappointments became our greatest assets. We started with MTO (made to order). Their animal premix used trace mineral fertilizer in the premix. When they lost their source for trace mineral fertilizers, we went with Triple M Feed (milk, meat, and management).
In 1981, Merlin Erb established NSWS Lab (Nutrition, Soil, and Water Service). His first lab was soil, then milk. Promin(Pro-Minerals), another trace mineral fertilizer, paid Merlin to test the soil. LaVerne Horst was paid to collect the soils. We were paid by the ton in Ohio. By 1987, we discovered alkali soils produced more mineral nutrients than the crops could remove. That is when we lost that account.
These soils were producing organic sulfur, the active ingredient in the trace mineral fertilizers. All plants with tap roots use trace minerals. Farmers can plow down an alfalfa crop in full bloom. This can be done in the spring or fall to recover those trace minerals. The biological life in the soil will produce plant food and humus. Humus holds moisture and plant food.
Next discovery was ozone. Ozone can purify air and water. One Amishman, a retired cheese maker, said it improved his goat milk cheese.
After that was Miracle II products for agriculture and homes. Now we have the testimonies on CD of Dr. Sas and Dr. Joseph Prendergast. From 1950 until 1980 America’s agriculture used state and federal tax dollars. In 1980 the Wall Street Journal reported young men who were taught farming by their fathers were more successful and profitable than those taught in the land grant universities.
Organic Gardening sent one soil sample to twenty different soil labs and they received twenty different recommendations. In 1981 NSWS established a research lab, which purchased a stainless steel grinder to grind the soil samples, which allowed for larger samples and more accurate results. Research technology requires weighing the samples and not using the gram scoop. NSWS used every tenth test sample as a master control.
In 1986 there was a meeting between Production Credit, Agri-Business and Academia. They agreed they were all responsible for the farm bankruptcies. The results of this meeting lead the USDA to established on-the-farm research, which concluded that it must be safe, productive and profitable.
First came natural farming, which used farm chemicals and drugs if required. Today’s organic farming should not need state or federal tax dollars with on-the-farm research. Organic farmers today can receive carbon credits for each acre farmed.
For several years Wayne County, Ohio farmers sold soybeans to Japan for three times our commodity price. These soybeans were being shipped in containers that normally would have returned to Japan empty.
Summary Conventional wisdom is we can eat organic foods/suppliments and monitor our bodies.... or we can take medicines and pay the doctors.
