America’s Retirees Under Attack
Ohio has 1.5 million people over 65 years of age. We especially need to enroll the widows, widowers, and elderly who are without pensions, in our communities. The Bible says God wants us to prosper, be in good health, and the wealth of the wicked is for the righteous.
America has too many murders. When those who commit murder are not put to death there will be more murders in the streets, schools, churches and judges chambers.
We have been pouring over a tremendous amount of data and government reports looking for any missed opportunities to serve you better. Helping others avoid pitfalls and take back control of their lives is of utmost importance to us.
Social Security is in BAD shape. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), in 2020 outlays for benefits are projected to exceed the system’s revenues. This challenge to Social Security has been well known for years. In 2001, the President’s Commission stated: “The relative burden on a worker in 2050 will be two-and-a-half times larger than the burden on a similar worker in 1960.”
This, unfortunately, is just the tip of the iceberg. Medicare and Medicaid are poised to strike a blow on the taxpayer unlike anything ever experienced before. The CBO reports that by 2050, the cost of Medicare and Medicaid programs will expand to an amount “…which is roughly the current size of the entire federal budget.”
Imagine, our current government budget may only cover Medicare and Medicaid benefits in about 40 years! Other negative tax revenue trends increase the burden on current taxpayers, such as: low fertility/birth rates, declining mortality rates, as well as changing patterns of marriage, divorce, participation in the labor force and immigration, as well as a host of other factors. All of these will affect our national retirement system!
While testifying before congress, CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin asks some all-important questions: “Where will the Treasury find the money? Will they raise taxes?”

Meeting Your Community
Each pastor has different methods of meeting his community’s needs. One pastor, as he closes the meeting, asks his wife to come to the front of the church to meet visitors while the ushers greet the worshippers as they leave. Some churches have committees to take the visitors to dinner. One large church has a cafeteria next to the church that is open seven days a week. This facility is used for conventions and sales meetings--large or small.
Smaller churches use bean suppers, bake sales, and car washes to inform the community of their place of worship. Some Amish give one or two days’ wages a month to pay their hospital care. Twenty years ago, an Amish bishop in eastern Pennsylvania replaced his acres of tobacco with vegetables. Today they have the largest vegetable auction with two auctioneers selling vegetables from farm wagons or trucks during the peak harvest. Today there are several dozen auctions and hundreds of roadside stands. Many of these are becoming organic farmers. This reduces the need for EPA and FDS regulations.
